Experimental evidence for scanpath eye movements during visualimagery

A bioengineering method for correlating eye movement (EM) scanpaths obtained under different experimental conditions is introduced. Using an EM tracking system, together with string-editing and Markov matrices, it is shown that EMs obtained during internal visualization of a given stimulus do reflect the content of the visualized image. In contrast to previous studies, quantitative parameters are studied in order to obtain further insight into the mechanisms of visual imagery and how this function differs from visual perception
